古代ローマの絵画技法を現代に復活、独自の濡れ色のマチエールで異彩を放つ赤木と中国水墨に通じる技法に魅せられ師の後を追う張。 二度失われた絵画術への熱い思いを込めた師弟展です。
Akagi’s practice revives the encaustic painting techniques that date back to ancient Rome in a contemporary manner, producing works that stand out for their unique wet-color texture. Meanwhile, Zhangyuanyuan’ s practice follows in the footsteps of her teacher while also demonstrating a fascination with the techniques of Chinese ink painting. This exhibition of works by both teacher and student is an expression of their passion for this twice-lost pictorial medium.
